Qatar Airways named Airline of the Year

by Jamie on October 2, 2009

Qatar Airways LogoQatar Airways, the Doha based airline has picked up the prestigious Travel Trade Gazette Award as Airline of the Year. The airline, which is one of world’s fastest growing, with one of the youngest fleets in the air, has been working hard to build its global presence over the past years, perhaps most notably with the UK sponsorship of Sky News Weather.

Speaking of the award, Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker said

To be named Airline of the Year is a magnificent achievement and I would like to extend my thanks to our UK team and the UK travel trade for working closely together to build a stronger partnership.

The airline which flies from both London Gatwick and London Heathrow has already won the award for Best Business Class Airline in China and has been adding new routes this year, including flights to Melbourne, Paris & Zurich.
