About Birmingham International Airport

Birmingham Airport started life in 1939 serving seven regional airports, and has since grown to cover 80 destinations in Europe and further afield from its two terminals. The UK’s seventh busiest airport, it carries over eight million passengers per year. Located eight miles south-east of Birmingham city centre, it is easily accessible from all directions, being signposted from the M1, M5 and M6 motorways. Short-, medium- and long-term parking are all available at the airport, as well as valet parking services.

If you’re travelling by public transport, a free Air-Rail shuttle links the airport to Birmingham International Train Station. From there, frequent trains run to Birmingham’s main New Street station where you can get trains to many UK destinations. National Express coaches also run from the airport into Birmingham, to Luton, Stansted and Gatwick airports, and across the UK.

If you’re arriving early or late, an airport hotel can help you avoid a journey in the dark. Three hotels lie opposite the terminal – the Novotel, Ibis and budget Etap. There are also a range of other hotels within a couple of miles. Check the deals available as airport hotels often offer free transfers, and some have parking deals which may work out cheaper than paying for separate parking.
