About London Luton Airport
London Luton Airport, usually known as ‘Luton’, is one of London’s five airports, along with Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and City. Serving mostly European routes, it carries almost nine million passengers each year. Although it’s known as ‘London Luton’, its actually located in Bedfordshire, just over 30 miles north of London. It’s easily accessible though, either via the M25 and M1 from London, or via the A1 from the north or east. Short-, medium- and long-term parking are all available at the airport, along with a ‘meet and greet’ priority parking service.
If you’re travelling by public transport, there are several options by both coach and train. National Express coach services run from across the UK, and Greenline 757 and Easybus run additional coaches from London, some available 24 hours a day. There’s also a mainline train station, Luton Airport Parkway, around a mile away, linked to the airport by shuttle bus. Or there is an express coach connection to Milton Keynes train station, which can be more convenient if you’re travelling from the north.
If you’re arriving early or late, an airport hotel can help you avoid a journey in the dark. Luton airport has two hotels located on the site itself, an Ibis Hotel and a Holiday Inn Extra. Check the deals available as airport hotels often offer free transfers, and some have parking deals which may work out cheaper than paying for separate parking.
